📜 About & history

Guaihe Mosque in Guaihe Town, Fangcheng County, Henan, was founded in 1891 (17th year of the Qing Guangxu era). The original site covered 2.2 mu, with a classical Chinese prayer hall with a rolled-roof porch - six carved bays - plus ablution rooms and lecture halls, fifteen rooms in all. A merit stele was erected during an expansion in 1919; the mosque was damaged in the Cultural Revolution and collapsed in a flood in 1975. Muslims funded the rebuilding of eight brick rooms in 1983. Its congregation numbers 155 households (over 650 people), all Hui, following the Ikhwan school; Imam Wang Jingqian and trustee Ai Zhendong run its affairs.
