📜 About & history
Erlong Mosque in Erlong Hui Ethnic Township, Dingyuan County, was founded in the Yuan dynasty and is the religious centre of the local Hui community. The early-Ming general Lan Yu rebuilt it on the model of Nanjing's Jingjue Mosque; after his downfall it was destroyed and rebuilt by Wang Ying on court orders. By the late Qing seven mosques had grown up around the South Grand Mosque; most were destroyed in the Cultural Revolution, and only the South Grand Mosque survived largely intact and was restored. During the War of Resistance the local Hui Youth Self-Defence Force became the Qingzhen Battalion in 1943 and fought alongside the New Fourth Army.
