A comprehensive aquatic-products trading centre on Haibin Road, built beside Shanwei Port, one of China's six special-class fishing ports, and handling close to a million tonnes a year. It began in the 1980s with a first trading floor for chilled and frozen fish run by closed bidding, and in the 1990s added a second floor and a complex for live seafood, shellfish and fishing supplies. Main species include Spanish mackerel, hairtail, grouper and lobster, and it is the main seafood hub of eastern Guangdong.
