A mixed-use landmark on Nanjing West Road in central Jing'an, combining offices, a theatre, a hotel and a shopping mall, designed by American architect John Portman — hence its nickname 'Portman'. Opened in April 1990, its main tower is 164.8 m tall and the 185,000 m² complex is laid out in the shape of the Chinese character 山.
