Zhuji Lane in northern Nanxiong, between the Meiling Pass and the city, was the first trading town reached by migrants from the Central Plains after crossing into Lingnan. Called "Guangdong's first lane", it is the province's only Song-dynasty lane and road. More than 180 clans trace their migration through here, and it is regarded as the ancestral home of the Cantonese. It is a 4A attraction.
