Zhashui Karst Caves National Geopark in Zhashui County, Shangluo, spans the towns of Xialiang and Shiweng over 63.37 square kilometres. Its main features are caves, gorges, waterfalls and fossils. Set on the southern slopes of the Qinling Mountains, with its highest point at Yuhuangding (2,483 metres), it lies on the boundary between the northern subtropical and warm temperate zones and is home to rare species such as the Chinese yew and the golden pheasant. It was approved as a national geopark in July 2016.
