Zhaojin, in Yaozhou District of north-western Tongchuan, is known for its Danxia landforms, said to have inspired the Song painter Fan Kuan's "Travellers among Mountains and Streams". In 1933 the Shaanxi-Gansu border revolutionary base was founded here. It is a classic red-tourism site and a national Danxia geopark, and the Zhaojin-Xiangshan area became a national 4A attraction in 2014.
