The Golden Lake Poplar scenic area (Xinjiang Jinhuyang National Forest Park) lies southwest of Zepu county town, on the upper alluvial fan of the Yarkand River at the northern foot of the Kunlun Mountains. It has a planned area of 2,000 hectares with 76% forest cover, including about 640 hectares of natural Euphrates poplar forest. It became a national forest park in July 2004 and was rated a national 5A tourist attraction in 2013.
