The Yangshao Village Site lies on a gentle terrace south of Yangshao Village, Yangshao Town, Mianchi County, Sanmenxia. It gave its name to the Neolithic Yangshao culture, covers about 300,000 square metres, and its excavation confirmed the existence of a Stone Age in China. It was in the first group of major nationally protected sites.
