The Xinglong Tropical Botanical Garden in Xinglong Town, Wanning, was founded in 1957 under the Spice and Beverage Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences and was the first tropical botanical garden in Hainan to open to the public. It holds more than 1,200 varieties in 12 groups, including coffee, pepper, vanilla and cocoa, and is a national 4A tourist attraction.
