Xiasi Ancient Town, in Xiasi Town, Kaili, lies on the Qingshui River 17 kilometres from central Kaili, on the main eastern line of the old Miao frontier route. Its grey-tiled wooden houses line the river and mix minority, Western, Huizhou and southern Fujian styles. Sights include the Xiasi memorial archway, Yangming Academy and an old opera stage. It became a national 4A attraction in 2017.
