Wudang Mountain is a UNESCO World Heritage Site (1994) and the holiest mountain of Chinese Taoism, revered as the birthplace of Tai Chi (Taijiquan) and the internal martial arts tradition. Its ancient building complex, largely built during the Ming Dynasty under Emperor Yongle, includes 72 clifftop temples, pavilions, and halls. The Golden Hall (Jindian) atop the 1,612-meter peak is cast from 80 tons of gilded copper.
