The Tianma Mountain Scenic Area lies southwest of Wangjiang Village, Beijie Town, Xinyi, more than 40 km from the city, and covers 26 square kilometres; it is nicknamed the "Shangri-La of Xinyi". The main peak is 1,080 m high, and the area has gorges, waterfalls and grassland; highlights include the Heavenly Pool, Butterfly Valley, a nine-tier waterfall and a vast hilltop grassland, with rare plants such as tree ferns and Podocarpus imbricatus. Once home to Miao people, it still has stone-built terraces, ruins of stone houses and old tea trees. There is a free car park.
