Zhalantun Suspension Bridge Park lies in the north of the city, covers 68 hectares and is a national 4A tourist attraction. It was laid out in 1905, soon after the Chinese Eastern Railway opened, and takes its name from its suspension bridge; at the time it was a pleasure ground reserved for Russian aristocrats. Of the leisure sites built in that period, it is the only one that has been repeatedly restored and survives. Today it combines boating, animals, flowers and a stele gallery with natural scenery.
