The Shiqian Hot Springs scenic area, the first national-level hot-spring group scenic area and a national 4A attraction, lies below Songming Mountain in the south of Shiqian County. Also called the Chengnan (South of Town) Hot Springs, it is one of the oldest hot springs in China: its facilities date from 1606 in the Ming dynasty, giving it over 400 years of bathing tradition. The water can be used for bathing and also drunk directly, and is rich in selenium, strontium, lithium, zinc, metasilicic acid and other trace elements, earning Shiqian the name "home of springs".
