The Pingshanhu Grand Canyon in Pingshanhu Mongolian Ethnic Township, Ganzhou District, Zhangye, is a national 4A attraction and a national geopark. Covering 100 square kilometres of desert and gobi 56 kilometres from the city, at 1,500 to 2,550 metres above sea level, it was a seabed hundreds of millions of years ago and is now a canyon of red sandstone and conglomerate combining Danxia and yardang landforms. It has been open since 2014.
