The Nine Rapids and Eighteen Shoals, a Guangdong provincial scenic area, is the roughly 60-kilometre stretch of the Wu River from Pingshi Town to urban Lechang at the foot of the Dayao Mountains. Along it the river forms nine rapids and eighteen shoals with a total drop of 65 metres.
