The Nanwan Lake Scenic Area in Shihe District, Xinyang, is a national 4A attraction made up of Nanwan Lake and the Nanwan National Forest Park. The lake covers 75 square kilometres of water with 61 islands and the Nanwan Reservoir dam; islands such as Bird Island and Monkey Island are home to macaques and egrets. The area is known for Nanwan fish and Xinyang Maojian tea. It became a national water-conservancy scenic area in 2001.
