Mingyue (Bright Moon) Gorge, in the eastern part of the Xiling Gorge of the Jialing River, about 33 kilometres from Guangyuan, covers 6.1 square kilometres and is a national 4A attraction. It takes its name from the silvery-white cliffs on both banks, which with the green peaks and river seem bathed in hazy moonlight. Sights include Tianzhu Peak, Huangsang Cave, the Hamabei spring that the tea sage Lu Yu called "the fourth spring under heaven", the Immortal's Bridge and the ancient plank road along the Jialing.
