ℹ️ About
Mingshan Island lies in Mingshan Town, Luobei County, Hegang, on the Chinese side of the main channel of the Heilongjiang (Amur) River. It covers 0.52 square kilometres, about 2,100 m long and 250 m wide, 200 m from the Chinese bank and 900 m from the Russian bank. Formed from river sediment in the late Qing dynasty, the spindle-shaped island is surrounded by water and covered mainly with broadleaf trees such as Manchurian ash and Amur cork, and is a summer home for herons and other waterbirds. Its scenic area was rated a national 4A attraction in 2011. The island has the Golden Beach bathing area, a Russian-style park and the Heilongjiang Basin Museum, China's first national second-grade museum devoted to the Amur basin.
