Mianyang Town, in the Paihu Lake scenic area of Xiantao, is a cultural tourism complex developed by the Hubei Culture and Tourism Group with the Xiantao government. Built on the waterways of Paihu Lake, it is a leisure destination presenting the water-town life of the Jianghan Plain and Mianyang culture, and is said to be the origin of the saying "a goose feather sent from a thousand li". The project is planned to cover 10,000 mu; the first phase, begun in July 2017, created a Mianyang culture area of "one river and two streets" with restaurants, guesthouses and intangible-heritage experiences, and 3,600 mu have been completed. It was rated a national 4A attraction in December 2023.
