Mangshan lies at the southernmost tip of Yizhang County, Chenzhou, on the northern slopes of the central Nanling Mountains on the Hunan-Guangdong border. It covers about 200 square kilometres, has many deep gorges, and its highest peak, Mengkengshi, rises to about 1,902.3 metres.
