Liaoyang Museum at 2 Zhongxin Road, Baita District, Liaoyang, occupies the "Peng Mansion", the Republican-era residence of Peng Xian, head of the Three Eastern Provinces official bank and president of the Northeast Frontier Bank. It covers 40,000 square metres with 6,456 square metres of buildings; the galleries are in the mansion's original three-courtyard brick-and-timber buildings with 44 rooms. A local history museum and a national 4A attraction, it opened on 1 October 1985. Its collection, mostly from archaeological digs around Liaoyang, numbered 8,674 items by 2022, 1,000 of them precious relics.
