The Kalajun Scenic Area in Tekes County covers 2,848 square kilometres. "Kalajun" is Kazakh for "black, fertile, vast grassland". It is part of the "Xinjiang Tianshan" World Natural Heritage site and has five areas: the Kuksu Grand Canyon, West Kalajun, East Kalajun, the Central Tianshan snow peaks and Tianlai Forest. It was rated a national 5A tourist attraction in 2016.
