ℹ️ About
Kaiping Diaolou and Villages is a UNESCO World Heritage Site (2007) consisting of fortified multi-story towers built between the 15th and early 20th centuries by Overseas Chinese (huaqiao) returning from North America and Australia. The towers blend Chinese and Western architectural styles—some resemble Baroque or Byzantine edifices—and were built for defense against banditry. The inscription includes 1,833 surviving diaolou across four village clusters.
