ℹ️ About
Jiming Post Town, also called Jimingshan Station, lies at the foot of Jiming Mountain on the north bank of the Yang River in Huailai County. Founded in the Yuan dynasty, it was fortified with brick-faced walls in the Ming, and it is the largest and best-preserved ancient courier-station town in China. Roughly square, its earth walls faced with brick are 460 metres east to west, 480 metres north to south and 11 metres high, with 4 corner platforms, 26 wall platforms and east and west gates. Its role ended in 1914 when the Beiyang government replaced courier stations with a postal service. Nicknamed "the world's first post office", it is a national key cultural relic site.
