ℹ️ About
The Houma Jin State Site, also called the Xintian site, lies where the Fen and Kuai rivers meet in Houma. It was the site of Xintian, the last capital of the state of Jin in the Eastern Zhou period, dating from the early 6th to the early 4th century BC. Bounded by Zijin Mountain to the south and the Fen River to the north, it covers about 45 square kilometres. More than 40 features have been surveyed or excavated, including 10 walled towns, 4 palace platforms, an ancestral-temple complex and 6 workshop sites; the bronze foundry and the covenant site are especially important. One of the major discoveries of 20th-century Chinese archaeology, it was among the first batch of nationally protected historical sites.
