Helan Mountain is a national nature reserve stretching along the Ningxia–Inner Mongolia border, rising to 3,556 meters at its highest point. It is famous for the Helan Mountain Rock Paintings, with over 20,000 ancient petroglyphs dating back more than 6,000 years, depicting hunting, herding, and spiritual ceremonies. The reserve is home to snow leopards, Mongolian gazelles, and 170+ bird species.
