Hanfeng Lake, beside central Kaizhou, is a reservoir lake created by the Three Gorges project. Its water area is 15 square kilometres, making it the largest inland lake in the Three Gorges reservoir area, with more than 30 bays and 41 islands. It became a national water-conservancy scenic area in 2012 and a national 4A tourist attraction in 2014.
