Gulao Water Village, also called Weidun Water Village, is on Yuanjiang Road, Gulao Town, Heshan. It dates from 1394, when the Gulao dyke was built against floods, creating a distinctive pattern of mound settlements. It keeps the largest and most concentrated mulberry-dyke fish-pond system in Lingnan, with criss-crossing waterways, old banyans, stone bridges and houses on mounds, and is called "the last unspoiled water village of the Pearl River Delta". It became a national 4A attraction in 2023; sights include the "Henghai" boat tour and the former home of Wing Chun master Leung Jan.
