ℹ️ About
Gaozhou Reservoir, on the Dajing and Cao rivers, upper tributaries of the Jian River in northeast Gaozhou, was formed by linking the Liangde and Shigu reservoirs with the Longtou'ao canal. Also called Yuhu (Jade Lake), it was listed as a national water scenic area (Yuhu Scenic Area) in 2004. It has a catchment of 1,022 square kilometres and a total capacity of 1.28 billion cubic metres, mainly supplying industry and irrigation, as well as flood control, power, navigation, fish farming and tourism. Work on the Liangde reservoir began in May 1958; after the canal opened in September 1960 the two reservoirs became the Gaozhou Reservoir, designed to irrigate 1.18 million mu of farmland.
