ℹ️ About
East Pole Square, also called Sun Square, is in Heixiazi Island Town, Fuyuan, where the Fuyuan Channel meets the Ussuri River, facing Russia across the Ussuri to the east and Heixiazi (Bolshoy Ussuriysky) Island across the channel to the north. Covering 36,000 square metres, it includes a river-mouth plaza, the main "East Pole of China" sculpture, a flag-viewing plaza, a wall on the four extreme points of China and a boundary marker. The main sculpture is 39.5 metres high and shaped like the bow of a warship. It marks the easternmost point of mainland China, where visitors watch the two rivers meet and greet the country's first sunlight each day; flag-raising ceremonies are held and there is a pier for boat trips.
