ℹ️ About
The Chijin Gorge Water Scenic Area lies in the Chijin Gorge 50 km north of Yumen. Its reservoir, begun in 1958, is a key part of the Shule River irrigation district. In 2002 it was developed into a scenic area based on the reservoir, natural scenery and local history, covering 9 square kilometres including 4 square kilometres of water. Sights include Hongliu Bay and Heishi Xianshan, a Yumen Pass site and the Chijin water-dispute stele, along with rafting billed as "the best in the northwest" and speedboats. It became a national water scenic area in 2004 and a national 4A attraction in 2013.
