Changyu Caves are in Changyu Village, Xinhe Town, Wenling, on the southern shore of Taizhou Bay. The scenic area covers 16.18 square kilometres at an elevation of about 150 metres. Its hills are formed mainly of Late Jurassic volcanic clastic rock, and the land slopes from west to east down to the East China Sea, creating a landscape known for its caverns.
