Batai Mountain, in eastern Batai Township, Wanyuan, is a national 4A attraction and national geopark covering 120 square kilometres. Its main peak, New Batai, rises to 2,348 metres and is called the "second peak of the Ba Mountains"; the name "eight terraces" comes from its eight stepped levels. Its karst marks the boundary between northern and southern Chinese karst. Known for sunrises and seas of clouds, it is nicknamed the "Emei of eastern Sichuan", has more than 90% forest cover, and offers Duxiu Peak, Qipan Mountain, a glass walkway and a ski field.
