The Bashan Grand Canyon Scenic Area in north-eastern Xuanhan County, Dazhou, covers 29.87 square kilometres and is a national 4A attraction. It is built on three resources: folded strata, wild cliff cypress and Ba culture. The arc structure of the Daba Mountains has left layered folds cut by rivers into gorges, waterfalls and caves, earning it the name "natural museum of folds"; the cliffs shelter the cliff cypress, a first-class protected plant; and Tujia customs such as weeding gongs and the hand-waving dance live on here.
