ℹ️ About

Anju Ancient Town in Tongliang District, Chongqing, is a national 4A attraction and was named a famous historical and cultural town of China in 2008. It stands where the Qiong and Fu rivers meet and was founded in 588 under the Sui as Chishui County. Its core covers 13.2 square kilometres, with Ming and Qing buildings such as the Huguang Guild Hall, and the "Eight Views of Anju" such as Hualong Zhongxiu. Once a trading hub of the upper Yangtze and the birthplace of the Tongliang dragon dance, it keeps intangible heritage such as dragon-boat racing and paper-craft, as well as Ming city walls and gates and Tang and Song cliff carvings.
