Qiu Hong
Biography
Qiu Hong is an underground band from Hong Kong, formed in May 2002. The band's name is inspired by Wen Yiduo's "Spring Cold," with members choosing a combination of autumn as a symbol of sensitivity and emotion, and red as a symbol of fire and passion. The founding members came from different bands that all disbanded in 2002, and they gathered to jam in a rehearsal room in the eastern part of Hong Kong Island, discovering their shared love of heavy music and similar musical style. The band underwent numerous lineup changes over the years, with several musicians joining and leaving, until settling on a new five-member formation in 2025. The band won the Hong Kong championship in the World Battle of the Bands in 2005, representing Hong Kong at the World Championship where they won the global title against bands from the United States, Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, and Singapore. They also won the Hong Kong championship in The Global Battle of the Bands in 2009. The band performed at major music festivals in Beijing, Taiwan, Chengdu, Hong Kong, Macau, Shenzhen, and other locations.
