软硬天師 (SoftHard / Jan Lamb and Eric Kot)
Biography
軟硬天師 is a Hong Kong entertainment duo consisting of “Soft Master” 葛民輝 (Eric Kot) and “Hard Master” 林海峰 (Jan Lamb). The two first met as design students at 明愛白英奇專業學校 and later worked together designing window displays for Esprit before joining Hong Kong Commercial Radio. Early in their careers, 林海峰 collaborated with four other male DJs on the programme 後浪五前速, while 葛民辉 became a traffic reporter and created the humorous character “Angel of the Road”. In 1988 the duo became famous for their comical style of radio hosting, and on 9 September 1989 they staged their first live show, 軟硬天師軟硬Show, at 九龍大專會堂. Their well-known radio programmes included 軟硬癲台, 老人院時間 (featuring the popular prank‑call segment 整蠱電話), and 軟硬今朝. They also hosted the TV show 軟硬製造, recorded albums, and appeared in films. The duo paused their joint activities in 1995, but reunited in 2006 for a series of projects including McDonald’s Lunar New Year advertisements, voice work for the film Cars, and the concert 軟硬天師-Long Time No See. At the 2006 叱吒樂壇流行榜 awards they won “叱吒樂壇組合金獎” and “叱吒樂壇我最喜愛的組合”. They continued to perform live in 2012, 2014, and 2024.
