夢劇院 (香港)

简介

Dream Theatre (夢劇院) was a Hong Kong campus-style female duo active in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The group consisted of students Li Min and Lau Man-chuen, both skilled in lyric writing. They were discovered by Keith Yip, owner and producer of "樂意唱片", at a public singing competition in 1986 while studying at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and were signed as singers. Initially the group had only an English name "Paradox", later adding the Chinese name "夢劇院". They released their first album in March 1988 and quickly rose to fame. Neither member played instruments; they adopted a pure campus girl image, with all songs written collaboratively by the two, featuring a literary style and European-influenced music. They also wrote lyrics for other singers, including a song for 阮兆祥 in 1988. They stated in an interview that their contrasting personalities enriched the group. In summer 1988, Lau went to Japan as an exchange student for a year while Li Min remained in Hong Kong, yet they continued collaborating. After Lau's return in 1989, Li Min went to Canada to study film, with Lau managing alone for a year. The group officially disbanded in 1990, with Li Min becoming a writer, lyricist and screenwriter, while Lau pursued a solo singing career, later becoming a TV host, and emigrated to Canada in 1996.
