王龍威
简介
Johnny Wang was born in 1948 in Hong Kong to parents of Shandong origin. From a young age he trained in martial arts but had no interest in studying, frequently changing schools until he was expelled from secondary school after fighting with classmates. After leaving school, he worked office jobs but could not adapt to the routine, so he turned to music and became a professional guitarist in a band, during which time he married and had a son and a daughter. Around the age of twenty-five, he left the band seeking career advancement. He joined Chang Chung Films founded by director Chang Cheh and became a member of the company's second cohort of actors, befriending fellow actor Leung Ka Yan for many years. After the company closed, he moved to Shaw Brothers Studios where he worked as a martial arts actor, often playing villains, particularly in films starring the famous martial artist Fu Sheng where he frequently portrayed Fu Sheng's character's nemesis. He also served as an action choreographer. In 1985, he was promoted to director by Fong Yee Hwa of Shaw Brothers, and made his directorial debut with "Shandong Maniac," in which he took on the roles of director, screenwriter, action choreographer, and actor himself after the original screenwriter passed away. In martial arts, he trained in Hung Gar, Karate (achieving third-degree black belt), Muay Thai, and Western boxing under Wu Tai Hu. Around 2009, he retired from the film industry to spend his later years in peace among his grandchildren.
