半日安
简介
Yat On Poon (Banri An) was born in 1902 under his original name Li Hong An in Nanhai, Guangdong. He studied Cantonese opera in his youth under the master Ma Si Zeng, who gave him the stage name "Banri An" inspired by the poetic line "A nobleman can hardly find half a day of peace." In 1931, he traveled to the United States with Ma Si Zeng for opera performances, where he met the famous actress Shang Hai Mei, and they married and had a son and a daughter. He was known as one of the "Four Great Comic Actors of Cantonese Opera" alongside Li Hai Quan, Liao Xia Huai, and Ye Fu Ruo. He performed many famous plays with the "Jue Xian Sheng" troupe, and the play "Hu Bu Gui" (Why Not Return?), in which he performed alongside Shang Hai Mei and Xue Jue Xian, was highly acclaimed and called the "Original Version" by audiences. He was dedicated to passing on the special performance techniques of the Xue school to young actors such as Lin Jia Sheng, Li Bao Ying, and Chen Hao Qiu, teaching them personally before scientific preservation techniques existed. He passed away on March 3, 1964, at Kowloon French Hospital, and renowned actor Yuan Chao Hui believed his death resulted from health complications due to quitting opium.
