Derek Yee Tung-sing

Biography

Derek Yee Tung-sing is a Hong Kong film director, screenwriter, producer and actor, born on 28 December 1957 in Kowloon City, Hong Kong, and raised in Kowloon Walled City. His father Er Guang was a highly influential film producer and director in Hong Kong, and his mother Hong Wei was a famous actress and voice dubber in the 1940s. He joined Shaw Brothers as an actor at age 17, later transitioning to screenwriting and directing. He won the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Director and Best Screenwriter twice, and produced over twenty films. Since 2015, he has served as chairman of the Hong Kong Film Awards Association board of directors. In 2018, he announced the birth of a daughter named Teresa.
