Wong Chiu Mo was a Cantonese opera "Xiaowu" (martial male role) actor, born in 1912 and died in 1993. Before World War II, he served in Ma Shizeng's "Taiping Troupe" and learned Bagua Black Tiger Claw from instructor Wong Man Chai at the Jing Wu Athletic Association in New York, USA. After returning from Vietnam to Hong Kong, he began performing at Ko Shing Theatre and Tung Lok Theatre from July 1956. Wong Chiu Mo created the "Cosmic Lamp" (宇宙燈) to enhance stage effects. His film "Slaying the Dragon and Meeting the Immortal" (斬龍遇仙) premiered in Hong Kong on 12 December 1956, with a trial screening at Kam Wah Theatre on 10 December. In 1962, he was interviewed on radio with Chow Kwan Ling and Wong Lai in a program about the top ten most popular films, where he revealed that he had returned from the United States to Hong Kong in November 1961 and formed the "Chiu Po Troupe" with Lee Po Ying, along with actors Ying Lai Li, Law Ka Kuen, and Siu Chung Kwan. He co-owned the Jin Han restaurant in San Francisco, USA, with Lo Hoi Tin. His eldest son Wong Mei Shing married Lau Kam Ling on 15 May 1966 at St. Mary's Church in San Francisco. In 1974, he arrived in Hong Kong from San Francisco via Taiwan for a two-week tour and was greeted by leading Cantonese opera stars. In 1979, at over 60 years of age, he formed a troupe with Pak Yim Kong to perform Cantonese opera in the United States. He retired in the 1980s after closing the Jin Han restaurant and was hospitalized three times for heart disease. He was elected president of the US Bahe Guild in 1991, continued daily training, and participated in charity fundraising performances. In December 1991, he visited Hong Kong to perform in a charity show for Ren Ai Tang, where he sang the theme song of "The Unfinished Grudges of the Phoenix Pavilion" with Chan Ka Ming, impressing audiences with his powerful and steady performance.
