简介

Du Yange was born in Beijing in 1957 and grew up at the Xiangshan Orphanage for children of war and disaster from infancy until graduating from primary school. He moved to Hong Kong at age eighteen and worked in various jobs before enrolling in Shaw Brothers' acting training program in 1975. He gained recognition as an actor and Mandarin dubbing artist after being noticed by dubbing supervisor Mao Wei. He won first place in a singing competition held by Huaxing Records in 1981 with the song "Tomorrow's Horizon," signed with the company but terminated his contract after one year due to the lack of a clear training plan. He returned to Hong Kong in the 1990s to work again in TVB's dubbing group, becoming the official Mandarin voice for major stars like Tony Leung and Ekin Cheng, and earned the title "Oscar-winning actor before the microphone" through his involvement in award-winning films. He suffered multiple health issues from intensive dubbing work, including osteoporosis and vocal cord tumors, leading him to reduce dubbing work in the 2010s and focus on on-screen acting from 2011, gaining fame for his role as gang leader "Xiong Fei" in "The Last Steep Ascent." He continued delivering prominent roles in works like "Beauty at War" and "Clear Light," and participated in the competition show "The Sound" in 2019.
