Biography

Sze Ma Wa-Lung was born in Hong Kong in 1921. He attended Tongji Middle School in Wan Chai in his early years, and his ancestral home was Nanhai District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province. Before joining the entertainment industry in 1952, he worked as a department store manager. He then devoted himself to acting out of passion for the craft. From the 1950s, he entered the Cantonese film industry, mostly playing supporting roles. Around 1968, he joined Rediffusion Television and subsequently worked for Rediffusion Television and Asia Television until 2000, performing numerous roles, the vast majority of which were minor supporting parts. He also played a guard in episode 18 of the TVB sitcom "73" in the 1970s, and was one of the few entertainers in Hong Kong who never formally appeared on TVB until his passing. After 2000, due to the dismissal policy implemented under the new management of ATV's Feng Xiaoping, Sze Ma Wa-Lung was forced to leave Asia Television and faded from the Hong Kong entertainment scene. He passed away on July 27, 2012, at 9:30 in the morning due to heart failure at United Christian Hospital, at the age of 91.
