沈威
简介
Shum Wai, also known by his original name Shen Dawei, was a former actor from Hong Kong born in 1948. He began his career in the 1970s when he joined the Hong Kong film industry as a newcomer at Cathay Films. However, he experienced hardships as an actor and after an incident with a director, he decided to leave acting and worked in other fields such as martial arts and diving. He also worked in public relations and in the legal field before returning to acting in 1984. He gained fame for his notable role in the 1984 film "Dragons Forever" (省港旗兵), for which he won the Best Supporting Actor award at the 4th Hong Kong Film Awards in 1985. During the filming of this movie, director Mak Dong Shing subjected him to a dangerous stunt where Shum Wai was tied in a gasoline-doused car and set on fire to capture his genuine reaction. Despite this major success, he continued to play supporting and villainous roles in subsequent films. His career also extended to directing and screenwriting, with seven films directed and several scripts written under his real name and a pseudonym. He joined TVB from 1994 to 1998 and participated in numerous TV dramas before retiring in 2002 and settling in Beijing. He returned in 2017 to participate in two Chinese TV series. He passed away on June 9, 2022, at Kwong Wah Hospital in Hong Kong at the age of 74.
