简介

Jacky Man Chin Shui, originally known as Wong Fu Wah, was born in Shilou town, Guangzhou, into a family of Cantonese opera performers. He left school at age nine due to family poverty and learned acrobatics from master Dou Tingzhi before switching to Cantonese opera at thirteen, studying under renowned teachers and earning the title "child prodigy." He began his career in children's opera troupes, spent seventeen years in supporting roles before becoming the leading performer in the Golden Troupe, later co-founding opera troupes with his wife Leung Siu Sum. In 1964, he formed the "Seven Brothers" alliance with fellow opera artists. He signed with a record label in the 1970s, producing over 180 Cantonese opera albums and cassettes. He received prestigious awards including the "Lark Award" and "Golden Bauhinius Arts Achievement Award." He appeared in notable TV series and films, and dedicated his later years to teaching younger generations through his opera academy and youth troupes. He converted to Christianity with his wife, was baptized in 2006, and announced his retirement in 2011 before immigrating to the United States.
