Biography

Ku Feng was born in 1929 in Shanghai into a modest family and received his education in Beijing. He was fond of singing and performed in various places, also working as a dance performer at Lai Yuen amusement park. He began his acting career in 1958 and joined Shaw Brothers in 1965 as a core actor. His well-built physique, training in Chinese boxing and Western boxing, and swimming skills made him a frequent choice for villain roles in Chang Cheh's wuxia films. He appeared in over 200 films, often as a leader figure in Shaw Brothers' martial arts movies. After Shaw Brothers reduced production in the mid-1980s, he turned to other Hong Kong films, especially literary dramas. He won the Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actor twice: in 1982 for "Wu Song" and in 1983 for "The Girl in Question". In the 1990s, he joined TVB and focused on television dramas. He officially retired in 2013 and stepped away from acting in 2011. He passed away on 27 March 2025 at the age of 96.
