简介

Eddie Koo Koon Chung is a veteran Hong Kong actor, born on 22 February 1954 in Hong Kong to Shanghainese parents. He grew up in a traditional building near the North Point District Welfare Association, and his father was a construction businessman. At age fourteen, he joined the first acting training course at Chang Cheh's "Chang Gong Film Company" but could not graduate due to his young age. After finishing junior high school at seventeen, he worked with his father in construction before enrolling in the fourth training course at the Actors' Training Centre jointly run by Shaw Brothers and TVB in 1974. After graduation, he was not initially signed, but director Chor Yuen noticed him while he worked as an extra, leading to a contract with Shaw Brothers in 1975 and roles in "The Lingering Dream" and "Killer Clans". He rose to fame in 1979 when ATV chose him to replace Xu Shaoqiang in the martial arts drama "Reincarnated", which brought him into the spotlight. In the 1980s, he moved to Taiwan to develop his career, participating in numerous television and film productions there, including "Rose Life" for which he was nominated for Best Actor at the 23rd Golden Bell Awards. In the 1990s, he moved between Taiwan and mainland China, then returned to Hong Kong to care for his ailing parents. He currently works as a basic artiste with TVB and participates in productions in Hong Kong and mainland China, often portraying gang leaders or minor villains in TVB dramas.
